Cloud & sync
You bought a second laptop and still want the same signature and support replies. Sync can carry them over. If you never turn sync on, abbreviations keep working on this computer โ offline, signed out, or after a cloud plan expires.
Sync only keeps an extra copy: on your other devices, on the website, or in a team library. Expansion already works before you flip the switch.
Works offline and signed out.
โSync my snippetsโ is off by default. When on, another computer and the website see the same library.
After you share, coworkers can expand. Edit the text on the website, not the desktop.
Abbreviations use snippets on this computer. Sync is separate: turn it on for another device or the team.
What are you trying to do
| You want toโฆ | Use |
|---|---|
| Use a second computer, or browse your library on the web | Personal cloud sync |
| Share the same replies with coworkers | Organizations & shared groups |
| Keep snippet text only in your GitHub / disk | GitHub / Gitee / GitLab / WebDAV |
| Keep a spare copy on this machine | Local auto backup |
Personal cloud and โsync with my own GitHub / diskโ cannot run at the same time. Local backup can run with either.
There is no browser extension. Sync happens in the desktop app and the web library.
Sign-in, Pro, and sync are three things
- Pro on this computer: paste an activation key, or have a valid cloud subscription on the account (about a week of offline grace).
- Signed in: profile, key binding, invites. Sign-in is not Pro and does not turn sync on.
- Copy snippets to CE Cloud: needs a cloud subscription and the desktop switch Sync my snippets (off by default).
A lifetime key bound to the account does not include CE Cloud. Claiming a yearly or monthly key extends cloud time and still does not flip the switch for you.
Sharing a group with the team or editing the team library needs a Team seat.

When sync runs
After you sign in, when you open the main window, or when you click Sync now, the app updates copies in the background. Typing an abbreviation does not go online.
If two computers edit the same snippet, follow the in-app message (sometimes both copies are kept). Do not merge the library with another disk tool.
