Terms of Service

Welcome to CodeExpander Pro (hereinafter referred to as “the Software”). By using the Software, you agree to be bound by these terms.

1. Software Features

The Software is a cross-platform text expansion and productivity tool providing the following features:

1.1 Snippet System

  • Group management: Tree groups, group prefix, ExpandIn (expand only in specified apps)
  • Multi-file snippets: Multiple files per snippet (e.g. per language/env), each with its own abbreviation and filename
  • Abbreviation trigger: Type abbreviation + configurable trigger (space/Tab/Enter) for instant replacement
  • Snippet types: Plain text, rich text, JavaScript, Shell, AppleScript, Python, PowerShell
  • FillIn: Single/multi-line text, notes, checkboxes, dropdowns on trigger
  • Templates & scripts: Date, clipboard, cursor position, key simulation, nested snippets; script variables such as {{clipboard}}, {{date}}, etc.

1.2 Screenshot & Annotation

  • Region, window, fullscreen, scroll capture; Pin overlay; GIF/MP4 recording; color picker
  • Background, corner radius, shadow, padding, device frame; rectangle, arrow, brush, text; blur, mosaic, highlight, numbered circles
  • Screenshot history and quick copy

1.3 Clipboard Management

  • Auto-record text, HTML, RTF, image, files (configurable count and auto-cleanup)
  • Filter by type, search, quick paste

1.4 Data & Sync

  • Local sled database; import/export JSON/CSV
  • Sync to your own GitHub Gist, Gitee Gist, WebDAV (data under your account)

1.5 Usage Stats & Achievements

  • Expand count, characters saved, today/week/month stats, streak
  • Trend chart and achievement badges

1.6 System Integration

  • System tray, global shortcuts, main/search/settings/clipboard/screenshot windows
  • Per-snippet shortcut, active window detection, app list, auto-update, 9 languages

Features may change with version updates; we reserve the right to modify features.

2. License Grant

2.1 Scope of License

Upon purchasing the Software, you will receive:

  • A non-exclusive license to install and use the Software on the authorized number of devices
  • Software updates during the license validity period
  • Access to technical support services

2.2 License Restrictions

You may NOT:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, or resell the Software
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software
  • Remove or modify copyright notices or other proprietary markings
  • Transfer the license to third parties (unless with our written consent)
  • Use the Software for any illegal activities

3. Device Binding

  • Each license allows activation on a specified number of devices
  • You can unbind devices through the official unbind page to switch devices
  • Abuse of the device unbinding feature may result in license revocation

4. User Content & Intellectual Property

4.1 Your Content

  • You retain intellectual property rights to snippets, scripts, clipboard content, screenshots, etc. that you create
  • You are responsible for ensuring your use of content does not infringe others’ copyrights or privacy

4.2 Software Intellectual Property

  • All intellectual property rights in the Software, its interface, and documentation belong to us
  • Unauthorized use of our trademarks or branding is prohibited

4.3 Sync & Third Parties

  • When syncing to GitHub/Gitee/WebDAV, you must comply with those platforms’ terms and privacy policies
  • We cannot access data you sync to those platforms

5. Local & Sync Data Statement

  • Snippet, clipboard, screenshot data are stored locally on your device by default
  • Cloud sync occurs only between accounts you bind (Gist/WebDAV); we cannot access your synced content
  • We do not upload your snippet body, clipboard content, or screenshots to our servers

6. Disclaimer

6.1 Software Usage

  • The Software is provided “as is” without any express or implied warranties
  • We do not guarantee that the Software will run uninterrupted or be error-free
  • We are not liable for any direct or indirect damages caused by using the Software

6.2 Script Execution

  • When using JavaScript/Shell/Python or other script features, you assume the risks of script execution
  • We are not responsible for system or data issues caused by user scripts

6.3 Sync & Backup

  • When using Gist/WebDAV sync, you are responsible for account security and data backup
  • We are not liable for data issues caused by third-party service outages or policy changes

7. License Key Responsibility

  • You are responsible for keeping your license key secure
  • Losses caused by license key disclosure are your responsibility
  • Please contact us immediately if you discover unauthorized use

8. Service Changes

We reserve the right to:

  • Modify, suspend, or terminate the Software services
  • Update software features and pricing
  • Modify these terms of service

Users will be notified in advance of significant changes.

9. Termination

9.1 User Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time.

9.2 Our Termination

If you violate these terms, we may:

  • Suspend or terminate your license
  • Refuse to provide technical support
  • Take other appropriate legal measures
